About the NIPUN Uttar Pradesh (UP) Quality Implementation Project

The FLN NIPUN UP Quality Implementation Project aims to drive high-fidelity implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission focused on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy at the school level. The project seeks to significantly improve student learning outcomes and classroom practices in 100+ schools. CSF district-level implementation team will support teachers through classroom observations, actionable feedback, continuous upskilling in instructional practices, and data for assessment-informed instruction. The program will be rigorously evaluated through a randomised control trial (RCT) conducted by researchers at MIT JPAL led by Prof. Karthik Muralidharan and Prof. Abhijeet Singh.


Position Summary

The Project Lead (PL) will lead the implementation of the project at the district level and be responsible for the focused implementation of the NIPUN program in the intervention schools to deliver significant gains in Student Learning Outcomes and Classroom Practices in the intervention 100+ school portfolio through a team of 6-10 Program Managers (PMs) stationed in 2-3 districts in UP. They will be responsible for:


● Building and maintaining relationships with relevant district, block and school-level officials to create buy-in for the program and resolve bottlenecks in implementation.

● Ensuring high-impact school-level interventions by program managers, including classroom observations, actionable feedback, instructional skill building, assessment-informed instruction.

● Create a high-performing implementation team through daily & weekly work planning, joint field visits, debriefs and on-the-job upskilling.

● Using data on student learning and classroom observations to continuously improve program quality, identify breakdowns and create action plans for improvement.

● Collaborate with CSF central academic teams to contextualise academic interventions, review project outcomes, and address breakdowns.


Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will bring 6-10 years of school improvement program implementation experience in either non-profit or educational product organisations with a track record of improving student outcomes and teacher capacity. They should also be comfortable in tier 3-4 locations with extensive travel to interior field locations. Additionally, they will have:


● Hands-on academic understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy, teacher training, classroom observations, instructional coaching and student assessments in the government or low-income school contexts.

Master's Degree in Education or a related field is preferred.

● Experience in leading 8-10 member field implementation teams with solid people management skills, ability to set clear goals, motivate & upskill, and coach team members on the job

● Ability to drive actionable insights from data through analysis of monitoring data and field observations to identify breakdowns and create pragmatic solutions.

● Excellent project delivery skills, including the ability to set clear success metrics, create project plans, drive execution, manage multiple projects at a time, and

● Maturity and confidence to influence multiple stakeholders in the school education system, from district magistrate to teachers, by building trusting relationships, influencing outcomes and managing change.


Compensation:

Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy pay scales and depend upon the candidate’s experience levels.
